Champions League Round of 16: Matchday 2
Published March 8, 2017 by Sol FH
Dortmund vs Benefica and Barcelona vs PSG all live tonight at 19:45 GMT.
After last night's Champions League matches, how could things possibly get any better than that? I mean after Real's second 3-1 thrashing of Napoli, and Bayern Munich strolling into the Emirates and totally destroying Arsenal for the second time 5-1 in two weeks, how could it get better? Well, tonight we have two matches that could be on the highlight reels for years to come.
Barcelona vs PSG
Barca are in a very rare must-win situation tonight. Just two weeks ago in the first leg of their Round of 16 match-up against PSG, they lost 4-0. This shocked the world and had critics instantly about how Luis Enrique could have let something like this happen. Enrique has assured his critics that tonight will not end like it did in Paris, and says that Barcelona could "score six" goals and create history in the Champions League for the biggest overturn in the tournaments history. "In 95 minutes, an infinite amount of things can happen. I'm convinced we'll be close to qualifying," he related.
Barcelona have been on fire in their last two matches, scoring 11 goals and only conceding one. The hammered Celta Vigo 5-0, but PSG is an entirely different monster. "We are aware that it is a difficult situation to turn the tie around, but in football nothing is impossible," related Luis Suarez. Barca's 4-0 loss was equal to their biggest defeat in European competition.
Prediction and Betting Markets
It would be a bettors dream if Barcelona could turn over the deficit that they need to overturn tonight. If what Luis Enrique is saying is true and Barcelona scores 6 unanswered goals, bettors at bet365 Sports would be paid out to the tune of 67.00. It would be a miracle if Barcelona could do that, but betting on an outright win for them in tonight's match 4-1 would be a better bet. They are shooting on full tonight and expect Messi, Neymar and the gang to be at PSG's net often. Outright odds are in favor of Barcelona at 1.53, while PSG are way behind at 6.00.
Dortmund vs Benefica
For the second match of the night, we have Dortmund and Benefica. Neither of these teams were expected to make it this far, but they have, and it adds a sense of true "underdog" spirit to the tournament. Of the two, Dortmund are favorites to win with bet365 Sports posting odds in their favor at 1.30. Benefica, not playing at home, and in a must win situation are way behind at 11.00.
