Charitable Efforts of IGaming's Original Site Show Industry Is Not Just in It for the Money

A look at Microgaming’s social programming celebrates the integrity and social productivity of iGaming.

Leading online technology director Microgaming is taking a major role in spearheading the charity efforts of the iGaming world through an expanding series of unique community-driven initiatives.

Lead Program

Microgaming PlayItForward is the lead program focusing on social pillars of health, charity, sport and education.  While it is just now reaching the global spotlight of iGaming, the initiative has actually been around since 2014 in the Isle of Man

Innovative Charity Marketing

Innovative marketing efforts already implemented by the program include sponsorships of up-and-coming sports stars, support of gifted learners to attend university, and fundraising for a litany of charities, with the Microgaming Health & Care Trust providing an additional lifeline for the needy on the island.

Comprehensive Pioneering

These efforts are consistent with Microgaming’s branding since its own inception, as a self-proclaimed proponent of fair play serving as a driving force in responsible gaming which has actually been laying the foundations for trusted, secure gaming ever since it proudly launched the world’s first true online casino in 1994.

Protective Technology

The winning of countless awards and development classic groundbreaking slots such as Terminator 2, Jurassic Park and Avalon II has been undergirded by a base of integrity established through its RNG (Random Number Generator), a technology systematically protects fair gameplay for players at all times from the Microgaming mainframe upon which all games are built and offered.

Expanding Efforts

But Microgaming didn’t stop there; it went on to position the building blocks for self-regulation in the online gaming industry, and it has worked hand in hand with regulators ever since in jurisdictions throughout the world.

Organisational Coordination

Microgaming has been implementing the foundational infrastructure for responsible gaming, monitoring and protection industry-wise, including specific efforts such as a founding role in eCOGRA (e-Commerce and Online Game Regulation and Assurance), which has emerged as the most respected independent authority for the monitoring and maintenance of responsible gaming practices in iGaming.

Continuing Support of eCOGRA

Today, Microgaming continues to support eCOGRA's work through providing the agency with software, and working on further initiatives.

More Organisational Coordination

Other significant community-geared organisations that Microgaming has membership in includes the well-known Remote Gambling Association (RGA) established in 2005 to protect the interests of iGaming suppliers and operators; and the Manx e-Gaming Association (MeGA) concerned with protecting the Isle of Man’s international e-gaming leadership status.

Health and Care Initiative

Established in 2002, the Microgaming Health & Care Trust was established by Microgaming, as the Microgaming Hospital Trust. The name change in 2009 expanded with the role and reach of the organisation, from providing financial support for Noble’s Hospital to assisting Manx-registered charities as well as other socially productive health and social care projects isle-wide.

Efforts to Date

As the sole benefactor, Microgaming has donated more than £800,000 to date, with a large portion of those funds used to pay for medical equipment, with the rest disbursed to over 50 local charities for various demonstrated needs.

Gift of Giving Initiative

Yet another initiative of Microgaming which falls outside the specific domain of the Microsoft Gaming Trust is the Gift of Giving award, which is now in its fourth annual year of presentation. This year the initiative raised £30,000 for charities in four separate designated global program regions: Isle of Man, UK and Europe, Africa, and Rest of the World.

Cumulative Donations

The campaign offering key Microgaming customers and network members the opportunity to make charity donations in lieu of giving customary Christmas gifts has now raised £120,000 to date for 13 different charities worldwide.

A True Beacon

With Microgaming’s charitable efforts proliferating with each passing day, the original iGaming company has embodied and established a precedent of integrity of iGaming operators from the beginning, and these ongoing efforts stand as testament to the trustability and integrity of the entire iGaming industry community.
