Copa del Rey Quarter Final Second Leg: Barcelona vs. Athletic BilbaoPublished January 27, 2016 by Sol FH
Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao play for a spot in the Copa del Rey Semi-Final tonight at 20:00 GMT.
Barcelona was successful in winning the first leg of the Copa del Rey Quarter Final last week at San Mames 1-2. If Barca win tonight it will be the sixth consecutive season that they have made the Semi-Finals. The win last week was a hard fought battle as they were without Luis Suarez (suspended) and without their star striker Lionel Messi (injury). Barcelona will be at full strength tonight with both Suarez and Messi back in the lineup and one must wonder if Bilbao have any chance of victory.
The last time that Athletic visited Camp Nou, they were embarrassed 6-0 and suffered an early red card, which set the pace for the match. Manager Ernesto Valverde must be feeling the pressure for his squad to perform better, but Bilbao are severe underdogs and do not have much going for them.
Barcelona Team News
There are a few players out with winter flu on Barcelona's star studded roster. Sergio Busquets, Arda Turan and Andres Iniesta are all questionable for tonight, but with Neymar and Pique back from an injury and a suspension respectfully, Barcelona should have little to worry about. The Barca back line will most likely consist of Dani Alves, Pique, Marc Barta and Jeremy Mathieu, but their midfield is still no certain.
Athletic Team News
Athletic Bilbao have to deal with their own problems, even after a decisive victory against SD Eibar on Sunday. Led by goals from Aritz Aduriz (2), Aymeric Laporte, Sabin and an own goal by Mauro dos Santos, Athletic do have a talented side, but it's nothing compared to the talent at Barca.
Copa del Rey Betting Markets
Bet365 Sports is offering both pre-match and live in play betting for the Copa del Rey Quarter Final. The UK sportsbook is offering punters dozens of individual wagering props that has Barcelona ahead at 1.30, while Athletic trail at 9.50. A draw is also quite attractive at 5.50, but all fingers point to a big Barcelona win and my guess is at least three goals from the home side is to be expected.
