Delaware's lottery director said the state has found preparations for online poker challenging, specifically in the technological area. Online casino giant, Scientific Games will be the state's primary vendor, overseeing geo-location, player identification and payment processing. In addition, 888 will provide the necessary software platform.
The state's initiative to present online poker products to users has prompted Nevada to enter into an interstate contract for online poker. Users are eager to play, according to Delaware's lottery director.
Already, the free play sites have garnered attention. The state's goal in offering free casino games was not to provide players a practice venue, but to gather information for a market database.
Poker is only one of the games Delaware will offer in its online casinos for real money. Video poker and slots are on the list. The state is currently restricted as to which games it will offer because of the service provider, 888 Holdings. The provider is working with a variety of game content from other hosts, however, it will be a while before other casinos games are added.
Delaware may or may not partner with other online gaming states, New Jersey and Nevada.
