DraftKings and Golden State Warriors Turning NBA into PartyPublished February 8, 2015 by Sol FH
DraftKings, the fantasy sports operator, has inked a new partnership with the Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors, California-based NBA franchise has entered a new partnership with fantasy sports operator DraftKings, which will give them the marketing rights and official sponsor of the team at special Slate Night games. The idea behind the new deal is to create a party atmosphere at select games to give fans a new live sports experience.
At the Slate Night games, the Warriors will wear all-new dark uniforms, while the beautiful Golden State cheerleading squad and various DJ’s get the crowd worked up. The vision is to take the NBA experience into the future and one of the ways to do so is to create a more interactive game.
The games will be marketed as, “presented by DraftKings” and will include unique marketing and sales that will boost both the team and DraftKings fantasy sports platform. The Warriors are not the first team to partner with DraftKings for special marketing, as they have other deals with Minnesota, Philadelphia and Houston.
Slate Night Winning Streak
The first special Slate Night pilot was introduced in December 2014, and the Golden State Warriors have not yet lost a game during those games. Perhaps the key to winning their home games is to turn them into a party.
Both parties are excited about the new deal and have praised what it holds for the future of the sport, as Warriors President and CEO commented, “As we continue to look for ways to further engage our fans, partnering with fantasy sports leaders like DraftKings makes perfect sense. We are excited to partner with a well-respected and innovative fantasy sports leader and be one of the first teams in the NBA to officially partner with DraftKings.”
A more interactive fan experience could be the direction all professional sports are heading and DraftKings are proud to be one of the pioneers of this new path. There could be similar Slate Nights in the NFL, NHL and MLB to follow.
