Dream Team Fantasy Football Shatters Records

One million players and counting: it's Dream Team Fantasy Football time!

The Premier League season is about to kick off and fantasy football preparations are in full swing. The Sun's Dream Team fantasy football game has long been reeling in players but this season has already exceeded expectations in terms of player numbers and digital media presence. And it's largely thanks to William Hill's ongoing sponsorship of the Dream Team.

Solid Growth

The widespread popularity of the Dream Team Fantasy Football game is beyond exceptional. The Premier League football season ranks as the most-watched series of games across the UK and indeed continental Europe. The Sun's Dream Team game is one which is enjoyed the world over and the proof of this pudding lies in sheer player numbers.

At the start of the Premier League season in 2010, there were some 200,000 players signed up. Today that figure has increased 5-fold to an astonishing 1 million players. This number beats all expectations and it is largely due to the tremendous media presence that William Hill (the chief sponsor) has. Other catalysts for the rising player numbers are the increasing popularity of fantasy football and The Sun's football appeal.

William Hill and News International Go Digital

Both William Hill Sportsbook and News International have recently launched an exciting digital betting product. This comes hot on the heels of their renewal of the Dream Team commercial partnership agreement.

The Dream Team app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones and it has been downloaded over 600,000 times. This new digital functionality becomes available towards the latter end of the current season. Players will be able to tap & bet on their smartphones via William Hill. The results speak for themselves: Fantasy Football popularity is bursting at the seam.
