Online casino regulatory body eCOGRA has announced a number of updates to their procedures.
eCOGRA is an independent, UK based, online casinos regulator, approved by many European regulatory bodies. They have announced a number of changes to the ways in which they operate, to keep them in line with the latest EU recommendations.
New eCOGRA Practices
Much of the change is due to new draft legislation published by the European Commission regarding consumer protection, information security and money laundering. eCOGRA carries out continual reviews of its practices, and has announced these changes to ensure that accredited casinos adhere to strict guidelines.
The information security provisions detailed in ISO/IEC 27001:2013, as well as the European Parliament's proposals for a Fourth European Union Anti-Money Laundering Directive and the EU Commission's common protection of consumers of online gambling services recommendations are the main basis for the updates.
The eCOGRA Regulatory Compliance and eGAP Manager, Jeanne Ferreira has commented on the changes, stating that ''Demand for the eCOGRA Safe and Fair seal continues to grow,'' and that ''The latest amendments to the eGAP Requirements provide confidence that eCOGRA's requirements are keeping pace with international developments.''
Chief Executive Andrew Beveridge has added that the self-regulation of eCOGRA continues to be refined.
