eCOGRA Safe and Fair Seal Granted to Betsson

The eCOGRA Safe and Fair Seal has just been awarded to Betsson as of January 2019, with the Swedish operator passing the independent auditing and testing.
Betsson hails from Sweden as one of the largest providers of online gambling services in the world today. And the latest news to come from Betsson is that the operator has obtained the eCOGRA Safe and Fair Seal. This announcement was made on 16 January 2019 and a number of important details were revealed.
For the uninitiated, eCOGRA works out of London as a body that specialises in the independent testing and auditing of iGaming operators. By nature, eCOGRA also promotes the fundamental advancement of player protection and fairness, with the Safe and Fair Seal awarded to operators that successfully undergo and pass the accreditation process.
eCOGRA eGAP Requirements
More specifically, Betsson was required to complete clear objectives of player protection that were prescribed. Meanwhile, the operator was also called upon to uphold fair gambling practices and demonstrate responsible conduct at all times. The auditor then performed an extensive onsite review to check that Betsson was compliant with the eCOGRA Generally Accepted (eGAP) requirements.
The eGAP requirements are extremely complex based on the fact that they consider the thorough legal compliance requirements from many different markets, as dictated by the likes of the European Committee for Standardization, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the European Union.
Rigorous Onsite Testing Process
Shaun McCallaghan of eCOGRA shed further light on the strenuous process by explaining that the onsite review undertaken into Betsson proved a commitment to compliance and player protection in a number of areas. These included legal compliance, corporate governance, and various controls covering the likes of operations, systems, and finances.
Jesper Svensson of Betsson then explained that the operator has to navigate extensive compliance requirements in all regulated markets where the brand is licensed to provide services. Svensson added that adhering to eGAP would support Betsson in attaining the demanded level of requirements in all markets.
