El Clasico Steals the Headlines of a Sunday Full of Derbies
Published October 28, 2018 by Florin P
The best European teams play against each other in a spectacular Sunday, rich in derbies and grudge matches between current leaders and reigning champions.
The major European football leagues have once again saved the best for last, with the most exciting matches being scheduled for Sunday. La Liga produces the greatest thrills, with Real Madrid playing against Barcelona, but there’s no shortage of derbies elsewhere. The French, German, Italian and English flagship leagues have some great matches and players can bet on them at bet365 Sports and 888 Sport.
Real Madrid and Barcelona Play for the Lead
The best teams in Spanish football have played rather poorly in the first round of the new season. Barcelona still sit in the first place, while Real Madrid trails at four points behind, in the sixth place. The Catalans have home pitch advantage and are clearly in better form, so they could expand their lead in the La Liga. Bet365 Sports prices them at 11/10, while the visitors are given odds of 23/10.
In the shadows of El Clasico, the two teams from Sevilla try to take advantage of somewhat easier matches and improve their position. Betis simply try to return to the first half of the tables, as they travel to Madrid for a match against Getafe. Meanwhile, their city rivals are in excellent position to defeat Huesca and return to the first place. 888 Sport offers odds of 1/4 on them to prevail at home.
AS Roma Tests Napoli’s Perfect Record
The Romans sit in a not so enviable seventh place and they don’t even have home pitch advantage in the match against Napoli. Having said this, they won’t settle for a draw simply because a point doesn’t help them in their quest. Instead, they will throw everything they’ve got at the team that is yet to drop points in front of its fans. Intertops Sports expects the host to prevail, as reflected by the odds of 4/5.
AC Milan have squandered an excellent opportunity of splitting points against city rivals last weekend. They need to do better against Sampdoria and since they play in front of their fans, they are highly motivated to be aggressive. We only get odds of 3/5 on them to return to their winning ways, but AC Milan has a flawless track record against his opponent.
PSG and Marseille Play the Derby of France
This is a very exciting match to watch for the fans and it has the potential of turning into a goal-scoring Festival. Having said this, PSG is so much better than every other team in the Ligue 1, that the odds are stacked against Marseille. They have home pitch advantage, but Winner Sports doesn’t expect them to win, so punters can take advantage of odds of 5/1. If PSG wins on the road, those who bet on this outcome for the evening match scheduled at 8 PM UK time will be paid at odds of 1/2.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea Play on Sunday
Some of the best English teams are also scheduled to play in the final day of the week and the first two matches start at 1:30 PM UK time. This is when Arsenal and Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace and Burnley, for matches that they are expected to dominate and win. Arsenal is given odds of 9/10 to prevail, while we only get 2/5 on Chelsea to claim all three points. Manchester United play at home against Everton and they are in dire need of victory after the narrow margin defeat against Juventus.
