El Salvador will open the country's first virtual, metaverse casino, complete with NFT trading and a physical location.
El Salvador, the first country to adopt Bitcoin as the national tender, announced that it will open its first virtual casino, where visitors will be able to purchase and sell NFTs (non-fungible tokens). In addition, the new project will have a physical presence in the country. Astro Babies is in charge of the project, and the name will be Astro Casino.
The effort will be carried out in partnership with the government, according to Mónica Taher, Director of Technology and Economy International Affairs for the Government of El Salvador. She also uploaded a video from the corporation that shows how the casino will appear once it's completed.
The land-based casino will have slot machines and table games, as well as weekly poker tournaments and other activities and merchandise, according to Astro Babies. A gaming room, lobby, bar, restaurant, DJ, terrace, and VIP section will all be available.
The virtual version of Astro Casino in the metaverse will have a marketplace for selling, purchasing, and auctioning NFT. This will be powered by the Astro Babies initiative and run on the Solana blockchain.
More Metaverse Gaming Ahead
The announcement comes as the iGaming industry's stakeholder's interest in the metaverse grows. BOTS, a global technology conglomerate specializing in Blockchain-based solutions, has recently made a strategic investment in XR Casino, a technology company specializing in Extended Reality (XR) cross-technology casino gaming, XR game development solutions, and NFTs for the iGaming and sports betting industries, and plans to launch a proprietary Metaverse based in Las Vegas this quarter.
The NFT space is booming and there are many company's developing Metaverse Casinos, NFT trading, and developing new and innovative ways to make use of blockchain technology and web3.0. The interesting part is how the real world and the metaverse will coincide and how blurred the line between the two will be.
