Willie Mullins' Quevega, ridden by Ruby Walsh, has won her sixth straight Mares' Hurdle victory in the festival's opening race in Vautour. Quevega started as the 8-11 favorite and was fighting hard against rival Glens Melody until getting the advantage in the race's final 100 yards. By doing so, Quevega surpassed the legendary Golden Miller who's won five successive Cheltenham Gold cups during the 1930's.

Queen Mother Champion Chase

Today is the big day of the two-mile Queen Mother Champion Chase taking place 15:20 GMT. The favorite horse to win this race is the eight year old Sire De Grugy, ridden by jockey Jamie Moore. Sire De Grugy has won four times from five starts this season. Among his ten rivals he will have to deal with two very noticeable opponents, Kid Cassidy and Captain Conan. With last year's brilliant winner Sprinter Sacre out of action, the competition today could be tighter than ever.
