Euro 2016: England Tries to Secure Top Group B Spot Against SlovakiaPublished June 20, 2016 by Sol FH
The Three Lions go to battle tonight at 20:00 GMT from Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium with a chance to secure top spot in Group B.
England is set to play their last group match tonight against Slovakia. England Coach Roy Hodgson is considering sitting six players including Wayne Rooney, as England need only 1-point to qualify for the last 16. In addition to Rooney, Hodgson is considering resting Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, which would mean depending on players from the bench to fill in for some big holes that could be left on the pitch.
Slovakia must play a safe match tonight, as six of their players have yellow cards. Another yellow card for any of the six would mean sitting out of a potential last-16 match, but they will need to play very well if they want to beat England. Slovakia will most-likely not change their starting lineup after beating Russia in their last match, which has left them in a tie for second place with Wales.
In their past three meetings with Slovakia, England have won each match including matches in the qualifying for the 2004 Euro. In 2009, England destroyed Slovakia in a friendly match 4-0, with Rooney scoring 2-goals. England usually play better against Slovakia in the last 15 minutes of matches with seven out of eight goals against them being scored at that time.
Tonight's match will have a ton of quality online betting markets for punters that are looking to capitalize on an England win, as that is the outcome most-likely to occur. Expect a 2-0 win for England after 90 minutes of play.
