Euro 2016 Qualifiers: England vs EstoniaPublished October 9, 2015 by Sol FH
Week 9 of the Euro Qualifiers match of the night at 19:45 GMT as England tries to keep perfect record against Estonia at Wembley.
With only two matches left in the group stage, England has secured its place in the playoff round and is keen on keeping a clean sheet, which they can do if they beat Estonia tonight. England is the only team with 24 points, going a perfect 8-0 and leading Group E ahead of Switzerland (15 points), Slovenia (12 points) and Estonia (10 points).
Wayne Rooney is doubtful for tonight, as he missed the second training session earlier in the week. The leader in goals scored and captain of the Three Lions was injured during Manchester United's loss to Arsenal (3-0), which is good news for Estonia, but England has a lot of depth and should easily win tonight's match. In addition to Rooney, Danny Ings and Jonjo Shelvey are also questionable, but Under-17 player Tom Davies got the call to come up to fill some of the gap.
The pitch at Wembley could also be a bit of an issue after the Rugby World Cup and NFL game on Sunday night left the grass in bad shape. The ground crews have been working long hours to get the pitch back to normal, as 75,000 fans are due to pack the stadium for tonight's match.
England defeated Estonia 1-0 last October in Week 3, after Rooney netted a free kick, but hopes are high that the score will be much higher tonight. Estonia are not yet eliminated, but a loss tonight will take them out of contention indefinitely.
