Europa League Clash: Ajax vs. Celtic

The Group A Europa League opener gets underway tonight with a big match featuring Ajax vs Celtic at 19:00 GMT.

Matchday one of the Europa League kicks off tonight with matches across Europe, including tonight's highlight from Group A between Ajax and Celtic. Of all the matches being played tonight, this is the one recommended to watch, as it will surely be a battle throughout all 90 minutes.

Group A features Ajax, Celtic, Fenerbahce and Molde, and Ajax are the outright favorites to take the group. Although both Ajax and Celtic would much rather be setting forth on a Champions League campaign but they were ousted out of the qualifiers and now need to save some face in the Europa League. Ajax were on the brink of making the Champions League group stage, but they were shocked by Rapid Vienna. The Eredivisie leaders are at home in Amsterdam tonight and must focus all of their attention to the task at hand.

Tonight will be the very first time that Ajax meet Celtic in the Europa League. The two faced each other in the 2013-14 Champions League, and they split those matches one win apiece.

For Celtic to walk away with three points and top spot in Group A, they will need to get back to winning games. They just lost a heart breaker to Aberdeen in league play and to make matters worse, Celtic have not won a single away game over their last ten in the Europa League, with four losses and six draws.
