President and CEO of American Gaming Association to step down in middle of year.
Frank Fahrenkopf, the long-standing president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, has announced that he will retire from the position on June 30 this year.
Fahrenkopf steps down
The AGA will have big shoes to fill, given that Fahrenkopf has been its only chief since its formation in 1995. The American gambling industry representative roof body has already begun the search for a successor, although Fahrenkopf will be retained as a consultant to assist with the transition.
Fahrenkop, a former Republican National Committee Chairman and still a co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates, said in a press statement that has enjoyed his time at the AGA and is "proud to have represented an industry that provides tens of millions of men and women with the best entertainment value in the world."
Achievements for gambling
Online gambling has made great strides in the US since the mid-90s. This is thanks in large part to the AGA's fulfillment of its mission to create better understanding of the industry by providing facts and educating the general public, elected officials, the media and other decision makers.
In particular gaming industry leaders talk positively about the AGA's role in creating industry trade shows, in helping implement an industry-wide code of conduct for responsible gaming, and in establishing the AGA Diversity Task Force to promote diversity in industry hiring.
