Famed Jurassic Park Actor Richard Attenborough Dies

Veteran actor and Oscar-winning director Richard Attenborough passed away yesterday, days before his 91st birthday.

Richard Attenborough's career spanned 60 years in which he managed to fill memorable roles on both sides of the camera. Having appeared in more than 70 films in his long career, Attenborough has made many remarkable characters come to life starring alongside Hollywood's biggest names. He starred alongside Steve McQueen and James Garner in "The Great Escape" (1963) and alongside James Stewart in "The Flight of the Phoenix" (1966).

In 1968, Attenborough sat on the director's chair when he directed the anti-war musical parody film "Oh! What a Lovely War". Attenborough then went on to direct some very well-known and successful movies like war drama "A Bridge Too Far" (1977) and "Cry Freedom" (1987). His biggest career success came in 1982 when his epic biographical film "Gandhi" starring Ben Kingsley won eight Academy Awards including best picture, best actor, best director and best producer (two roles which were filled by Richard Attenborough).
