Federer vs Djokovic: Australian Open Semi-Final

The greatest men's tennis rivalry of all time? Two of the best go head to head for a chance to make the finals beginning today at 8:30 GMT.

Few tennis rivalries are as talked about as the Federer vs Djokovic rivalry. These two tennis superstars have met 44 times and amazingly each has won 22 times, splitting the honors right down the middle. Djokovic is currently ranked 1st in the ATP standings, while Federer is 3rd, just behind Andy Murray (facing Milos Raonic (13) in the other Semi-Final tomorrow at 8:30 GMT). Both men made it to the Semi-Finals winning their last eight matches in straight sets. Djokovic crushed Kei Nishikori in the Quarter Finals 6-3 6-2 6-4, while Federer beat Tomas Berdych 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 6-4.

Although Federer and Djokovic have identical match-win records against one another, the Serb has been the better in the rivalry as of late. Djokovic has beaten Federer in their last three grand slam meetings, but the Swiss-star is playing with a new energy as of late and today will certainly be a match for the ages.

"You have to be on the top of your game because he hasn't really dropped the level at all I think in the last seven, eight years that I've been playing against him," Djokovic related. Federer has a chance to make it his 18th grand slam title if he wins the tournament. Djokovic burst onto the ATP circuit a few years after players like Federer and Nadal had already won many major events and the Serb currently has 10 titles. If Djokovic wins the tournament he would be tied with Rod Laver at eleven grand slams, which is fitting since he will be playing at Rod Laver Arena.
