Bettors have until 2pm today to bet on this year's Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize, with William Hill.
All of the twelve Mercury nominees will appear at the London Roundhouse tonight where the winner of the Best British Album will be announced. In contrast to the BRIT award, the Barclaycard Mercury Music Awards are known for their more off-beat nominees, acknowledging musical achievement across a wide range of genres - pop, rock, jazz, dub-step, you name it.
At the moment, the critic's favourite stands as Alt J's "An Awesome Band" with odds of 6-5. Based in Cambridge, Alt J manage to straddle the indie, trip-hop and rock genres at the same time. Famously, the band got its name from an Apple keyboard shortcut.
Up next is Richard Hawley for his album "Standing at the Sky's Edge". The former Pulp member famously lost out on the prize to the Arctic Monkeys back in 2006. Hawley stands as a crowd favourite this year.
Rising Star Jessie Ware stands in a firm third place with odds of 6-1 for her album Devotion, featuring the single "Running".
Also on the shortlist are The Maccabees for "Given To The Wild", Field Music's "Plumb" and 2010 Brit Winner, Plan B for 'ill Manors". Newcomers on the list are bluesy Michael Kiwanuka and Sam Lee.
