The stars of the ATP are out in full swing as the 2016 French Open continues today from 10:00 GMT.
The 2016 French Open has begun and the biggest names on the ATP tour are all vying a berth into the later rounds. Today there will be matches by the likes of Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic and UK favorite Andy Murray. The opening day went down without a ton of matches, but some players had major issues with the officiating.
Highlight Matches of Day 1
The day on court 1 will begin early this morning, as the defending champion Stan Wawrinka begins the defence of his titles against Lukas Rosol. Following the withdrawal of his Swiss comrade Roger Federer, Wawrinka is seeded third is looking to win his fourth ATP title of 2016. Rosol is not favored to win this match, but if you remember, he knocked out Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon in 2012. He has reached the quarter-final of the French Open in the past on two occasions, but to face Wawrinka on opening day is a draw he would surely like not to be his.

The second highlight of the day will be between Canadian Milos Raonic vs Janko Tipsarevic. Raonic should have no problem putting the Czech down, as the 686 seeded player has been humbled by injuries and is playing in his first French Open since 2012.

The biggest match of day one will undoubtedly be between the experienced Radek Stepanek and world number 2, Andy Murray. These two have met eight times in the past with Murray winning 6-2. The past really doesn’t mean much though, as Murray is playing some of the best tennis of his life winning the Rome Open and just missing out on the title in Madrid. At Madrid, Murray crushed Stepanek and odds are that will be the outcome tonight.
