Gaming Awards Gala Benefits Charity

The Women in Gaming Awards and Gala Dinner took place last Friday, June 6 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge, UK. 

Benefiting the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity, the 5th annual WiG event welcomed, embraced and celebrated international female business talent from the Gaming industry for an evening of fun, fundraising, and networking as well.

Created in 2010, The International Woman in Gaming Awards ongoing mission is to highlight exceptional women working in the gaming industry.

Pride Award

As for the latest achievers, the Pride of the Year, awarded to the woman "whose vision, innovative approach and success make her an outstanding role model that will inspire more women to choose a career in Land based Gaming or iGaming industry," was shared by Michaela Michaylova of Unibet and Hodan Fourie of Poker Stars.

Networking and Promoting Opportunities for Women in Gaming

The gala has turned into a true platform for networking, resources and opportunities for male and female professionals alike to confer and diversify their networks.  The event helps bring recognition to the achievements of women in the gaming industry and paves the way for increasing opportunities for women as well.

Britt Boeskov, Unibet COO, asserted that "the calibre of the female influencers throughout the industry blew me away, the day provided amazing networking and great new contacts for doing business with."

The WiG Organization

The WiG is an organization committed to increasing awareness of careers available in the gaming industry, and seeks to encourage girls and young women to choose careers in gaming development.  To this end, the organization is committed to investigating and promoting methods of increasing the numbers of women in the game industry, and this event is the pinnacle step in that direction.

Other Awards

Other awards handed out included Affiliate Manger of the Year, which went to Melanie Hainzer of Leo Vegas; Affiliate Team of the Year; which went to Carly Sawers of PokerStars; and Excellence in Customer Service, which went to Melissa Zalbeigi of Betsson.
