The Warriors have taken their second title in three years. Durant named Finals' MVP.
After a huge Game 5 win, the Golden State Warriors have yet again won the NBA Finals for the second time in three years. The Game 5 win was a 9-point victory with Golden State running away with the win in the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. Even a massive 41-point game by LeBron James couldn't contain the performances of Durant, Steph Curry and the rest of the world champions taking a 129-120 victory.
The Warriors were favorites to win by top online sportsbooks like bet365 Sports at 1.27, while the Cavs chances were 3.80. The winnings that bettors would have taken home on the outright Warriors bet would not have been huge, but if one were so inclined to take the Over/Under, Correct Score or one of the dozens of live in-play bets that were posted throughout the game, it could’ve been a lucrative night.
Durant Gets Revenge
Five years ago, Kevin Durant faced LeBron James in his first NBA Finals when he was still with the Oklahoma Thunder and James was playing for the Miami Heat. The Heat won 4-1. Many people were critical of Durant moving to Golden State, but they also forget that James did exactly the same thing when he moved to Miami. After his MVP performance last night, and becoming the first player to score over 30 points in five straight Finals games since Shaquille O'Neal did in 2000.
Much of the win has to be given to the Golden State fans. The stands were painted in gold and erupted with every block, steal and dunk. It was an incredible sight and the fact that they were able to celebrate at home made it even sweeter.
Steve Kerr also gets top honors for his incredible coaching abilities. Lest we forget that he was a big part of the legendary Bulls' roster during their heydays. Kerr made a ton of adjustments in the second quarter after the Cavs actually outscored the Warriors and from then on it was all Golden State.
If you missed out on last night's game you'll have to wait until next season to get your fix, but during the offseason, NBA bettors can get in on action in Europe, or alternatively take a crack at a new sport, which could provide some big profits. bet365 Sports, Winner Sports, 888 Sport, William Hill and other top-rated online bookmakers offer thousands of bets everyday of the week and provide live viewing of many of the games.
