Golf Live Betting: US and Europe Go Head-to-Head at The Ryder Cup
Published September 26, 2014 by Amir G
US and Europe clash in this year's highly anticipated Ryder Cup, with the action teeing off in Scotland today at 7am UK time.
The 40th Ryder Cup golf tournament tees off today at 7am UK time at the PGA Centenary Course at the Gleneagles Hotel not far from Auchterarder in Perthshire, Scotland.
A biennial competition, the Ryder Cup pits two teams of golfers from the United States and Europe. Two years ago it was the Europeans who won the cup on US soil at the Medinah Country Club at Illinois after storming back from a 10-4 deficit to win 14½-13½ and this time the Americans are looking to win on European soil – an event that has not happened for 21 years.
Europe Clings to Rory McIlroy
The Americans have one big problem and that is Rory McIllroy who will play in the ranks of the hosting European team. The world's current top-ranked player, McIlroy has had an amazing 2014 season winning three out of the year's four major championships. McIlroy will be led by Europe team captain Paul McGinley who will look to replicate the success his predecessor Jose Maria Olzabal left off in 2012.
Americans Want Revenge
The American team led by the 65 year old Tom Watson, the oldest captain in the Ryder Cup's history, is not hiding its desire for revenge after the dramatic climax and defeat at the Medinah Country Club two years ago. Watson is targeting Europe's McIlroy, having said: "When you beat the stud on the other side, it gives a boost to your team."
