The biggest US Golf tournament of the year kicks-off from Hartford, Wisconsin, at Erin Hills today as the best of the PGA have come out in full force. Dustin Johnson is the early favorite with bet365 Sports posting outright odds in his favor at 8.50, but as we all know in the world of the clubs and irons, a lot can change quickly.
There has already been a lot of controversy surrounding many aspects of the US Open. The biggest issue that multiple players have come out arguing is about the rough. Kevin Na (251.00 to win), tossed a ball into the rough the other day and needed many minutes just to find it. Players did not want it trimmed though as many think that the best golfers in the world should be able to make it work, whatever the condition. Rory McIlroy said it best, “Really?” he related sarcastically. “We have 60 yards from left line to right line. You’ve got 156 of the best players in the world here. If we can’t hit it within that avenue, you might as well pack your bags and go home.”
Perhaps they are right. Maybe the course should be left to be a bit tougher when it is the best in the world coming to town. Either way, today will start the best tournament in the US, and there are already a few favorites. Dustin Johnson is the early favorite as listed previously, but just behind him is Rory McIlroy at 13.00. Jason Day is in third spot for the outright win at 15.00, tied with Justin Spieth. From there the odds get even bigger, but this could be just the right time to choose someone like Jon Rahm (21.00), Rickie Fowler (23.00), Sergio Garcia (26.00), Justin Rose (26.00), or Adam Scott (29.00).
Bet365 Sports will be on top of all the action with live in play odds, as well as live streaming of all the best drives, chips and puts until one golfer is crowned.
