International Champions Cup: Tottenham vs Atletico MadridPublished July 28, 2016 by Sol FH
The Hot Spurs take on the Champions League runners up, Atletico Madrid tonight in Melbourne at 3:00 GMT.
Pre-season friendlies are coming to an end as the regular season approaches and Tottenham is ready to test their skill against one of the top squads in Europe in Atletico Madrid. After a very tough loss in the Champions League Final against Real Madrid, Atletico is ready to show the world that this year will be a different year and that they are still major contenders for all competitions.
Tottenham played Juventus on Tuesday, but lost 2-1. The Spurs have a strong team this year and should be amongst the top in the Premier League. The young and insecure Tottenham defense did not look as good as was predicted a few weeks ago, but they have a lot of room for improvement and tonight’s test will be crucial to understanding what moves need to be made.
Atletico have played just one single match in the pre-season this year as they beat Numancia 2-0. Sime Vrsaljko and Diogo Jota made their premier in that match and head coach Mauricio Pochettino is pleased with what he has seen so far. The match after this, which is essentially the last match of their pre-season, will be played on August 5 against Inter Milan, but they are looking to beat Tottenham tonight in front of tens of thousands of Aussie fans in Melbourne.
