Invincible Barcelona Travels to the Canaries to Take on Las Palmas

Las Palmas braces for 90 minutes siege against Barcelona. (3:00 p.m UK Time).

Barcelona hasn’t lost in the last 30 games in all competitions, which makes them overwhelming favorites to defeat Las Palmas on the road. Not having home pitch advantage means little for the reigning champions and the home side has good reasons to be concerned ahead of their visit.

Key Players on the Bench

Barcelona has so many options up front that it can afford to rest its key players or at least use substitutes in the second half. Their top priority is to avoid any injuries ahead of their London visit, since they need to defeat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. While it is essential for the leaders to win on Saturday, they have no reasons to go for a lopsided victory against a team threatened by relegation.

Barcelona has the advantage of facing terrified teams regardless of venue and it is most unlikely for Las Palmas to try to take the initiative. Messi, Neymar and Suarez are all fit to play and the visitors have plenty of reasons to keep them that way. While it is perfectly possible for all of them to feature in the starting formation, it’s most unlikely for the three strikers to play for 90 minutes.

Estadio De Gran Canaria Turns into a Fortress

Las Palmas is not going to take any chances against Barcelona and will gladly use a single striker to have enough players in the back line. Five of them are hardly enough to contain the offensive threat posed by the visitors, but four more midfielders will assume defensive roles.

Las Palmas won 5 out of 10 games at home and lost on just three occasions so they are not as weak as one might assume. Barcelona hasn’t scored more than two goals on the road since humiliating Real Madrid at Bernabeu, so it’s worth backing the home side to cover the +2.5 goals spread at odds of 4/5.
