Latest data show that Italian online sports betting market saw steady growth last year
The Italian online betting market grew steadily in 2012, the latest data from national gaming authority AAMS show, reflecting a positive trend that has seen revenues from casinos, poker and general gambling increase.
Gambling growth
Italy's online betting turnover grew 2.37 percent to €3.94 billion last year, thanks largely to the effect of big sports events like the 2012 London Olympics and Euro 2012. The number of stakes grew by an impressive 9.7%, while live betting grew 54% compared to the previous year.
Online casino revenue remained steady in 2012, reaching an estimated €130 million for the year (although full figures have not been released yet). Experts believe that if current trends continue the market will be worth around €400m a year, with online slots accounting for around €268m.
Where to play
Which casinos cater to Italian players? Some of the leading names in the businesses have online casinos with Italian domains, Italian language capabilities and Italian-language support staff. These include All Slots Casino, Titan Bet Casino,William Hill Casino, and 888Casino.
In addition, Italian poker players can turn to a number of dedicated sites, not least Titan Bet Poker. It's no wonder that online poker revenue is on the up in Italy, when poker rooms like Titan Bet are offering such generous welcome bonuses worth up to 1000 euros.
