The first casino game that had the pleasure of playing with Jackpot Duke was the humble jackpot slot. Why a jackpot slot? Because its main prize is named after me, of course. You too would play a game if its main feature was named after you, but enough about how cool us jackpots are, my real point is the confusing RTP numbers that kept popping up in the info tab. I kept thinking that they meant "Rebuild the Piggybank", in the case of wins, "Return to the Parking-lot", in the case of losses, and "Return to Profit", in the case of breaking even. Either way, it was not until I read one of OCR's guides that the RTP numbers started to make sense.
Now I will be the first one to admit that books make my brain hurt. The only thing that I like to focus on is roulette spins and dice throws, but I made the effort to learn from the best reviewers in town. With that said, I simplified what they said for you into the following super second Duke snippet.
RTP says, in percentage points, how much money, over a massive number of spins, a player can expect to get back.
Does that mean that I get $96 back from a $100 bet in a slot with 96% RTP? No. Does that mean that I get $96 back from betting $10 a cool 10 times? No. It simply means that the average amount that a slot will give back to all players in the long term is 96%.
While RTP may say the game pays back 96%, I somehow always end up with the other 4%, over and over again!
Every good punter has at some point questioned the art of wagering. When I learned what RTP was, I felt the same way! But I did what I always do: I doubled down mentally. I did not let the game break my spirit, as it was there to entertain, not educate me on statistical sampling. After all, statistical sample size? Never heard of her. I much prefer statistical jackpot size!
But it is not all about jackpots, even though I have to admit that jackpots are my favorite. I sort of also like the volatility that comes with slots. To be honest with you, RTP and volatility go hand in hand, which is why I will bore you with that as well.

If a game is teasing you with very frequent small wins, then it has low volatility. But if it stuffs you with a big win once in a game session without offering any small appetizers, it has high volatility.
Which volatility does yours truly prefer? Well, if you have studied the way of the Duke and know that losses are lessons, you know that I prefer low volatility. It is, after all, about enjoying the thrill of individual wagers and how the slot reacts to them.
But that does not mean that I do not like to bet big every once in a while. There is something magical about high volatility wagers after all, especially when you get into the bonus round, during which everything is possible. Well, almost everything.
I have taught you all I know about RTP and volatility, two for the price of one, as I brought you here to talk about RTP. But remember, knowledge is power. Power is confidence. And confidence is something that a student of Duke's Gaming Academy will never run out of if he/she listens to the good folks at OCR.
I kindly invite you to join me as I flirt with Lady Luck in both high and low RTP slots, which you can find reviewed by my friends somewhere on the webs of this website. Also, if you want to learn more from the coolest punter on the entire internet, keep an eye out for the news section, where an RTD (return to Duke) graces the posts every so often.
