Dutch top flight kicks off season today, ahead of Premier League and Spanish Liga.
The Dutch Eredivisie becomes the first major European football league to kick off its 2013-14 season this weekend, with a complete fixture of matches featuring all 18 of the league's participants.
Ajax Amsterdam, fresh off claiming its record 32 nd Dutch league title last season, opens its 2013-14 season with a standalone game at home to Roda JC Kerkrade. Roda had a season to forget last year, finishing 16 th of 18, but managed to avoid relegation by emerging from playoffs against teams from the next division.
The action continues on Saturday with four games including the match of the day between ADO Den Haag and PSV Eindhoven. Week one will end with four more matches on Sunday, including PEC Zwolle v. Feyenoord Rotterdam and Vitesse Arnhem v. SC Heracles Almelo.
