Americans are favorites to defeat Internationals at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
US Masters champ Adam Scott has put the heat on his International counterparts, telling them that they need to defeat their American rivals in this week's Presidents Cup in order to "make it a real competition." The Aussie said: "I'm getting tired of getting killed out there. This is a big year for us. It's our time."
The 10 th edition of the biennial match between the United States and non-European golfers takes place at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Muirfield village in Ohio from Thursday to Sunday. The Americans have a 7-1-1 lead in the all-time rivalry, but haven't lost this cup in 15 years.
The Americans won 19-15 in the previous match at Royal Melbourne. They have never lost at home. The Internationals only win was in Melbourne in 1998 and the draw took place in South Africa in 2013.
Zimbabwean Nick Price leads an International lineup that includes two Aussies (Scott and Jason Day), Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, Canada's Graham DeLaet, Argentina's Angel Cabrera and five South Africans (Ernie Els, Branden Grace, Richard Sterne, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen). The Americans are led by Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and PGA title-holder Jason Dufner.
Bet365 Sports is offering 3/10 for the United States to win outright, while the visitors are 5/2 and a tie is paying 14/1. Woods leads pre-match betting for top American (5/1), Scott and Day are 4/1 and 5/1 favorites respectively for top International, and there is also betting for Correct Points Score.
As it does with all major golf tournaments and sporting events, bet365 has made this a live betting event. Log into your online sportsbook at any time during the four days of golf action to place an in-play wager on the Presidents Cup.
