Loto-Quebec to Commence Online Lottery Ticket Sales

Loto-Quebec, one of the leading Canadian provincial lottery operators, will begin conducting its long-awaited online lottery ticket sales services later in August, the company recently announced.

From August 27, Quebec lottery players will be able to purchase a range of lottery products online by registering for a new account or using an existing one at Loto-Quebec's Espacejeux Website. This site already provides online gambling and sports betting to residents of Quebec.

Loto-Quebec and retailers paved the way for the introduction of online lottery sales not long ago, when they reached a fresh agreement which will see the retailers pick up a certain slice of the revenues from the Espacejeux.com online sales.

Quebec residents will know that Loto-Quebec began offering legal online gambling to the province's residents as long ago as September 2010, in a move that paved the way for other Canadian provinces to follow suit with their own gaming and sports betting sites for their local populations.

The Espacejeux site introduced responsible gambling measures such as weekly gambling limits, options for self-exclusion and strict age limits. It also froze out illegal gambling sites, and manages to bring an estimated $50 million into provincial government coffers every year.
