Lottery Winners Reveal Past ‘Ticketless’ Win

Susan and Lee Mullen from Grimsby, UK were overjoyed to scoop a £4.8 million prize when their regular numbers came up on the EuroMillions Lottery last Friday.

The lucky couple revealed that they should have been second time winners as their numbers had been pulled out once before. On that occasion however, they had stopped buying tickets as their financial situation was so dire.

The couple religiously purchased tickets each week, using the same numbers. Six years ago, when their daughter was born, they were unable to afford lottery tickets.

Said Mr Mullen, "Religiously, every week, we used to do the lottery and when my daughter was born we didn't have enough money, and it was either nappies for my daughter or the lottery... unfortunately all six numbers that we did every week came in (which could have netted £8.5 million) - to say that we were totally gutted was an understatement. We were a bit disillusioned with it and we thought that was our chance gone, finished."

Over Christmas Mrs Mullen dreamt that their numbers would come up again. Just six weeks after recommencing their weekly lottery ticket purchase they scooped a life-changing win.

Mrs Mullen is registered disabled following back surgery. The couple, who have four children in total, have been living off just £300 a week. Mr Mullen said, "We just can't comprehend that we never, ever have to worry.'

Mrs Mullen said they would remain grounded, "People have won vast amounts of money on the lottery and other things and within a few years it's gone. That's not going to happen to us."

Their winning lucky dip ticket matched all five numbers plus two lucky stars and reaped them a staggering £4,873,639.80 EuroMillions jackpot prize.
