Last week’s Gaming App Awards 2016 saw Betsson, Mr Green, and PokerStars triumph as the night’s major winners. The 7th Women in Gaming Awards also saw some exciting winners.
Mr Green, Betsson, and PokerStars were the best performers at the 2nd Annual Gaming App Awards. Each operator was in attendance at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, an elite five-star hotel situated in the Knightsbridge district of London, on Friday 20 May 2016 to watch the awards.
By design, the awards are intended to recognise outstanding mobile innovations within the global online gambling industry, covering all major markets. Among the categories that features were casino, slots, bingo, sports, poker, and lottery.
Betsson Wins App of the Year
Starting with the coveted App of the Year accolade, this was claimed by Betsson for its Jackpots App, while the operator also claimed Best Slots Game App for the innovation. Mr Green claimed another sought-after award in the form of Best Casino App, and also won Innovative App of the Year.
PokerStars was the third operator to receive two awards when it walked away with Best Poker App and Best Free to Play App. Leo Vegas then impressed by winning the award for Best App Design, while Pilot Games won for Best App Company.
Getting into the remaining categories, Playtech was awarded Best Sports Betting App, Lottoland received Best Lottery App, and Mecca Bingo obtained Best Bingo App. The final award for Best Social Gaming App went to Mobile Strike, which is a military-based game that currently features Arnold Schwarzenegger in the marketing.
7th Women in Gaming Awards
The 7th Women in Gaming Awards also took place during the event, recognizing some of the year's most hard-working female employees in the industry. Some mentions include Frida Östberg of NetEnt who won for "Industry Pride of the Year", Lydia Barbara of Microgaming who won for "Innvoator of the Year", Thereze Carlson of Mr Green who won for "Inspiration of the Year" and an exciting cast of other women whose list can be seen on the WiG awards site.
Clever Duck Media
Clever Duck Media was responsible for organising and hosting the ceremony, which is now into its second year. The event management company is known for its experience in the fields of online gambling and igaming.
At present, Clever Duck Media also hosts the International Gaming Awards (IGA) and the Women in Gaming Awards (WIG). Thus far, there have been nine iterations of IGA, while WIG is into its seventh year of celebrating female success in the industry.
