Mallorca and Deportivo Play a Key Match for La Liga on Sunday

Florin P. - June 23, 2019

The second leg of the Segunda Division playoffs pits Mallorca against Deportivo La Coruna in a final push for a spot in the La Liga.

The weekend concludes with an exciting match played in the final act of the Segunda Division playoffs. Mallorca and Deportivo play for a chance to return to the Spanish first division, where they have been a constant presence for many years. The two teams are evenly matched and everything is on the line in the second leg of a series where home pitch advantage is extremely important. Elsewhere, South American teams play in the final matches of Group B, hoping to secure a place in the Copa America quarterfinals.

Mallorca Seek to Extend Invincibility at Home

Mallorca are yet to lose a match in front of its fans in 2019, as the last home defeat happened in the first week of December 2018. Their dominant home record will be tested by Deportivo La Coruna, a team that has won both legs in the playoffs' semifinals. 888 Sport credits the home side with the first chance, but they are only narrow favorites in a match that they can’t afford to lose. The hosts have the advantage of a solid backline which has conceded very few goals at Iberostar Estadi, but tend to struggle offensively.

Deportivo La Coruna used to play in the Champions League and the time spent in the Spanish Segunda Division is painful for the fans. The good news is that the team has an excellent chance to return into the spotlight, after playing impeccably in the playoffs. They were able to win at home and on the road against Malaga and they won’t settle for a draw on Sunday evening. Odds of nearly 2/1 are definitely worth considering for a team that has scored five goals in the previous two matches.

Argentina Plays Decisive Match at Copa America

Argentina are on the verge of suffering a humiliating elimination from Copa America after dropping the opening match against Colombia. They are still well positioned to qualify and all they need is a victory over Qatar in the decisive match. The final two matches of the group stage are played at 8 PM UK time and Argentina are expected to crush Qatar. Winner Sports has average odds on what looks like a lopsided match, but punters can boost them by betting on the South Americans to win by two goals or more.

Colombia is also expected to defeat Paraguay and qualify from the first position in Group B. The team is firing on all cylinders and with key players returning to fitness, they should be able to claim all three points. A draw would also be enough, but for Paraguay, the prospect of a low scoring draw is not satisfying. They have lost two precious points in the opening match against Qatar and will need to take more chances upfront against the superior Colombian team.
