Malta Welcomes Bet365 with LicencePublished August 19, 2015 by Lee R
Malta and Gibraltar licenses are the two ideal regulatory atmospheres for operators.
The Maltese government has granted a sports betting licence to sports betting leader bet365.
The Class 2 Remote Gaming Licence was officially issued to bet365 - Hillside (New Media Malta) Limited, so that the bet365 Malta chapter will now be able to provide sports betting, casino and poker type games in Malta's expansive regulatory environment. Already an emerging online powerhouse, this licencing is consistent with the next step in the bet365 expansion strategy.
A bet 365 spokesperson explained that the proliferating diversity of regulatory developments in various territories has spurred the offshore operator to add a Malta licence to its existing Gibraltar licence. The move was designed to “obtain and maintain certain regulatory approvals as well as to support its operations in the evolving global regulatory environment.”
In conjunction with the Maltese licence, bet365 established a Maltese marketing company in Sliema to expand marketing management and procurement functions, with Fred Bjurjfall named to head the Maltese chapter.
Malta Gaming Authority Executive Chairman Joseph Cuschieri announced that the addition of bet365 reflects the Authority's commitment to the “ongoing evolution of the industry” with a prioritizing transparency, integrity and consumer protection with a very tight focus on consumer protection. These are some positive news indeed for Malta after a chain of arrests and scandals were brought up in the country.
Broader Reach for bet365
The fact is, bet365 Sports products are already very popular among people all over the world with in-play sports bets taking the crown. This new licence will diversify bet365 holdings and reach to allow the company to reach even larger crowds.
The company certainly seems poised to harness the benefits of the two most attractive offshore regulatory environments as entryways into European markets, and ultimately a springboard into the United States when the wished-for day of regulation finally comes.
