Miami Open: Andy Murray vs. Grigor DimitrovPublished March 28, 2016 by Sol FH
Second seed Andy Murray faces the dangerous Grigor Dimitrov in third round action of the Miami Masters, live at 19:00 GMT.
The tennis world was rocked during the second round of the Miami Open, with some of its biggest stars opting out of play. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both forfeited their second round matches due to illness, while Stan Wawrinka and Juan Martin del Potro lost what should have been easy wins.
Federer did not even play, falling ill to what he said was a stomach bug, while Nadal retired during the third set of his match with Damir Dzumhur, with what appeared to be heat exhaustion.
The field is now wide open for Murray to make the finals, even though he is not playing the best tennis of his life. His first two matches were not as easy as he would have liked, but the UK tennis star is not giving up and faces Gigor Dimitrov tonight. This match could very well result in yet another upset of a top-ranked ATP player, but Murray is confident he will breeze past Dimitrov.
Even if Murray gets past Dimitrov, other stars like Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori and Nick Kyrgios could be in his path in later rounds.
Murray must start playing much better tennis. Only two weeks ago he was ousted of the Indian Wells by Federico Delbonis. Murray served only 52 percent in the opening rounds in Miami and made 24 unforced errors.
Grigor Dimitrov is ranked 28th in the ATP's official rankings, but will need to play a solid match if he is to beat Murray. He has beaten him before though, in 2014 the Bulgarian was ranked No. 8 and beat Murray at Wimbledon.
