Microgaming Poker Network Celebrates 10th AnniversaryPublished March 25, 2013 by OCR Editor
One of the most popular poker networks just turned 10 years old.
This month the Microgaming Poker Network celebrated its 10th birthday. The MPN has been the favored destination of tens of thousands of poker players since its launch back in March 2003.
Today, the MPN is used by a number of online poker brands. Unibet and Stan James are long term licensees of the poker network while Paf, iGame Malta LTD and Betsson are some of the newer poker brands using the Microgaming network.
Other popular poker sites which use the MPN include PokerTime, Betway, Ladbrokes and NordicBet.
One of the poker sites which is most satisfied with the MPN is 32Red, a long term licensee of the poker network. 32Red's CEO, Ed Ware, highlighted the fact that "MPN has consistently adapted to the online poker environment throughout the years and is today well positioned to continue to provide a successful poker solution.
According to Lydia Melton, head of Network Games at Microgaming, "the MPN is one of poker's best loved and longest-established networks".
In 2011 the MPN made a strategic decision to form the Network Management Board (NMB), a group of operator representatives and independent industry experts. The group was created to provide insight and direction for the network. The first successful initiative that the NMB introduced was True Value, a unique model of allocating rake to operators on their network. True Value would reward sites which retained users and acquired new ones.
The MPN has a long history of innovation in the online poker world. They were the first to market Survivor tournaments, the first to bring an online poker network to android smartphones and the first to introduce anonymous tables to online poker. Close to 5 billion hands have been played on Microgaming poker tables.
The MPN's tenth anniversary coincides with the launch of its new Bad Beat Jackpot.
