Will the Jays See Red Tonight in Cincinnati?

The Blue Jays are looking like they could be actual contenders this year for the first time since their only Championship campaign back in 1993. Virtually every Canadian (myself included) remembers Joe Carter, Kelly Gruber, Pat Borders, Paul Moliter and the rest of the winning roster under the watchful eye of Cito Gaston.  It may be a little early to tell but the Jays are in control of the AL East for the time being and with the All Star game next month they should easily make the playoffs and could be a real threat.

Head to Head

The Jays and the Reds get underway tonight from Cincinnati in the first of their 3 game series.  The Reds are in 4th place in the National League Central and the meeting with Toronto could be a terrible experience for them if the Jays continue on with their winning ways.  Cincinnati will be throwing their new right-hander Mat Latos who doesn't have a lot of experience, but at 6-6 and 244lbs he is a monster on the mound.

The Jays are loving this season so far.  They are looking like a team for the first time in many years and it is paying off.  Capable of beating any team in the league this year the Blue Jays are coming into this game with the Orioles and the Yankees only a few games back but they should be able to handle the Reds especially with R.A. Dickey on the mound.  He was feeling tenderness in his mid region but should be able to make the start.
