MLB: Orioles Look to Bounce Back Against the Yankees Tonight
Published July 19, 2016 by Sol FH
The Baltimore Orioles are in the Big Apple to face the New York Yankees in the second of their four-game series at 00:05 GMT.
The American League East leaders, the Baltimore Orioles will seek to bounce back tonight after a two-game losing streak. On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Rays gave the O's their first loss in four games, while the Yankees opened the series with a 2-1 win last night. The Orioles are struggling on offence and will need Mark Trumbo, who leads the MLB in home runs to get back on the bat.
The Yankees are improving but are still behind the Orioles, Red Sox and the Blue Jays in the AL East. The Yankees won the four-game series against the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians. Alex Rodriguez hit his 696th home run in last night's victory. The victory pulls the Yankees to 7.5 games from the lead in the division. A-Rod turned on a fastball to lead off the second inning and toolk Kevin Gausman deep over the wall. Now 40-years-old, Rodriguez seems to have his all-star swing back since having gone 10 for 50 in 15 games. "It's been a struggle. I've been really bad this year. I've been working my butt off and I just haven't been able to figure it out," said Rodriguez.
The second game of the series gets underway tonight and Yankees Stadium will be packed with the most dedicated fan base in the MLB. It is a tough task to beat the Yankees and it is even harder to beat them in New York. The Orioles are in need of a victory with the Red Sox and the Blue Jays at their heels and they have the power to do so.
The Orioles are sending Vance Worley to the mound and he will face Nathan Eovaldi.
