MLB Regular Season Betting: Royals vs Blue JaysPublished July 5, 2016 by Sol FH
A classic MLB rivalry gets underway tonight at 00:00 GMT as the Jays host the Royals.
We are just a few weeks away from the All Star break, as teams in the MLB fight for better positioning going into the mid-season break. The Royals and the Blue Jays are fairly evenly matched with similar records this year, but after last night's 6-2 win by the Jays, the Royals will need to make some changes if they are to compete with the World Series runners up.
The rematch of last years ALCS did not disappoint in the first game last night, with Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez throwing a brilliant eight innings. The 24-year old is in trouble of going over the innings limit, which would land him in the bullpen. He has won eight straight decision and his win last night pulled the Jays within 3.5 games of the Orioles and their record now 46-39. Sanchez did not even allow one single hit until the fifth inning last night, showing what an important role he is playing for Toronto.
Tonight, the Royals are going with their their right-hander Chris Young, who has struggled this year. His record is 2-7 with an ERA of 6.24. The Jays have sent R.A. Dickey to the mound at 4-9 with an ERA of 4.21. Dickey is 0-5 at home this season and looking to end the drought at Rogers Center.
The Jays are in third place in the AL East, while the Royals are in third place in the AL Central. Both teams are within striking distance of the top of their divisions but need to start winning games more consistently and a win-streak would be a god send right about now.
