Monday Night Football Game Preview and Live Odds: Panthers vs Redskins
Published December 19, 2016 by Sol FH
Week 15 Finale tonight at 1:30 GMT as the Washington Redskins take on the Carolina Panthers.
What a week it has been in the NFL. After Sunday Night's action we now have a clearer picture of the race for the playoffs, but tonight's game is crucial for the Redskins. The Washington Redskins are now 7-5 in the tough NFC East behind the Giants and the Cowboys, but they can make up some ground with a win tonight at home. The Panthers could draw even with the 6-8 Saints in the NFC South, but for Cam Newton and the rest of the team, this season's playoff hopes are over, which could mean they sit some key players to avoid injuries.
Kirk Cousins is having his best season yet for the Redskins. He is in control of the fourth most productive offense in the NFL and a good showing will ignite Washington's playoff chances. He has thrown for 4,4045 yards on 334 of 495 with 23 touchdown's. The fact that his stats are this good in Week 15 is a good showing of just how hard the NFC East is this year. The Redskins dominate the Panthers in total yards per game (412 to 340), with Cousins over Newton by 302 to 231 through the air. On the ground, both teams are equal at 109, but the Redskins are coming off a big win last week and look to make it two in a row tonight.
The one bright spot for the Panthers is the Redskins' biggest weakness and that is defense. The Redskins' D is ranked 29th for efficiency, allowing their opponents to complete 67% of all passes and have made interceptions only 1.6 percent of the time. With the Redskins at home in Maryland, they are obvious favorites and the game should end with a Washington victory at 31-17.
