More Women Gambling Online Than Ever

Four times as many women played online casino games in the United Kingdom in 2010 than they did in 2007, a survey by e-advertising firm Hitwise has found - proving that the Internet has exposed them to the world of casino gaming more than ever before.

Almost half of all British online casino players were female in 2011, the report found, dispelling the long-held belief that gambling is an entirely male pursuit. Some 48.38 percent of people who played online last year were female, compared to a slightly higher 51.62% who were male.

This data came on the heels of a British Gambling Preference Survey which showed that although women are playing online casino games more than ever before, they still strongly prefer niche areas such as slots and bingo. Men on the other hand play a more diverse range of games, including poker, roulette and of course sports betting.
