NBA Betting Odds: Clippers Vs. Spurs
Published February 3, 2020 by Sol FH
The No. 2 Clippers take on the No. 10 Spurs tonight in the Western Conference, live at 3:30 GMT.
The San Antonio Spurs are trying to get back into the season and build on their two-game win streak but must overcome the second-ranked team in the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Spurs are now beginning a very difficult set of seven road games, all against teams that are ahead of them in the standings. Tonight, they go against their old teammate and NBA champion/MVP, Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers have needed to deal with a number of injuries, which has cost them dearly with bad losses to teams that they should be able to easily beat.
The Clippers will be without Mfiondu Kabengela who is listed day to day with a shoulder injury.
What to Watch For
If the Spurs are to have any chance of winning they will need to limit Kawhi Leonard. Coming into tonight's game, Leonard is averaging 27.5 points a game for 2020 and 34.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.2 steals over his last 9 games. Without Paul George for most of the said 9 games, the Clippers have won eight.
The Spurs came back from behind after the first half against the Hornets two nights ago and controlled the game in the second half. They allowed just 27-points in the third and fourth quarters while scoring 64 to win 114-90. The Hornets are in twelfth place in the Eastern Conference. The Spurs haven't had good luck against the top 9 teams this season and have been quite inconsistent leaving them with a losing record on the year so far. They seem to be pulling it together and we should see a new and improved Spurs team for the remainder of the season.
In their last game, the Clippers dealt a hard blow to the Spurs with a 134-109 smackdown at AT&T Center.
NBA Betting Odds
The Clippers are strong favorites tonight with 888Sport listing them to win at 1.19. The Spurs are well-behind at 5.00 to win, but they will need all hands on deck.
