NBA Eastern Playoffs – Can Rose and Butler Hold off LeBron and the Cavs?

Game 4 of the best-of-7 series tips off tonight in Chicago, as the Bulls host the Cavaliers at 20:30 (GMT).

LeBron James has never had a hard time against the Bulls in the past, but the pressure that Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler have placed the Cavs under has been astounding. Winning games 1 and 3, the Bulls are in a great position to go up 3-1 with a win at home tonight.

Both teams are feeling the injuries that this year’s playoffs have dealt out so far, which has put strain on the player’s left to pick up the slack. LeBron James took it upon himself to crush the competition in Game 2, with 22 first-half points on the way to a 106-91 win. He simply couldn’t do it all himself in Game 3, as Rose and Butler combined for 50 points and hit 23 of the Bulls’ 25 fourth quarter points. Rose put the nail in the coffin with a 3-point buzzer beater for the 99-96 win.

Butler recently won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award and his dynamic play is proving quite an issue for the Cavs defense. He is averaging 23 in the postseason and has turned the ball over only 3 times and has 10 steals.

"Every year we kept getting better and better, now you see Jimmy stepping up taking those shots he wouldn't take last year; that's big. Jimmy has grown so much, he's taking the big time shots Derrick doesn't want to take. I'm extremely happy for him," related teammate Taj Gibson.

The last time that the Cavs won a series after being down 2-1 was in the 2007 East finals, but Chicago hasn't lost a series after being down 2-1 since the first round in 2005. Food for thought if planning to make a bet on tonight’s game and the rest of the series.
