NBA Match of the Night: Pistons vs. HeatPublished December 22, 2015 by Sol FH
The Detroit Pistons head to Miami to face the Heat after a much needed break. Tipoff at 00:35 GMT.
The Detroit Pistons overcame the longest game of the franchise's history last Friday against the Chicago after beating the Bulls in four overtimes 147-144. The Pistons had a good rest after the win and will be even better now that Brandon Jennings is back in the lineup following an 11-month injury kept him sidelined. Detroit and Miami are evenly matched with the Heat in second place in the Eastern Conference at 16-10, while the Pistons are in 7th at 15-11.
With Jennings back in action, the Pistons will have some much needed experience on the hard court. The Pistons are in need of help from the bench, as their starters lead the NBA in minutes played per game. The Pistons are in last place in the NBA for points from the bench with 23.3 points per game. Jennings will be able to take the strain off Kentavious Caldwell-Pope at shooting guard, as he is second in the NBA for time on the court after Houston's James Harden.
The Pistons top scorers Reggie Jackson and Caldwell-Pope are averaging 26.0 and 21.3 over their last four games respectively, but against a strong Miami Heat defense, will they be able to find the points they need tonight? Andre Drummond is also heating up on offense after scoring 33 points and 21 rebounds during the marathon on Friday Night.
The Heat will be out for revenge after losing to the Pistons in Detroit on November 25. Detroit held Dwayne Wade to a season-low on scoring with two-points, but the NBA all-star is now at 61.4% on shooting and averaging 22.3 points over their last three games.
