Show introduces a new format for poker reality TV.
NBC and Full Tilt Poker announced recently that they will be teaming up for a new television program called "Face the Ace," that promoters are billing as a challenge to beat three pros and walk away with $1 million.
The show, to be hosted by Steve Schirripa (The Sopranos), will introduce a new format not familiar to fans of previous poker TV shows, in which contestants play against three Full Tilt Poker professionals for a million dollar prize.
According to an NBC spokesman, contestants will have to choose between four smoked glass doors, each leading to a top poker professional. Once the contestant has chosen, the will play that professional in a match of heads-up no-limit Texas Holdem.
If the contestant beats the pro, she can then take the money won or choose to risk it for more money by playing another pro sitting behind another door.
Face the Ace will premiere on NBC on Saturday, August 1, with a series of seven one-hour episodes. Entry to qualification is free, with information to be made available soon at Full Tilt Poker.
