Net Ent Scoops Digital Gaming Innovation Award

September 29th saw the first ever Global Gaming Awards take place at the Venetian Pallazzo Congress Centre in Las Vegas. Among the awards handed out was the Digital Gaming Innovation of the Year, which was won by Swedish company Net Entertainment.

Hosted by GamblingInsider, the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions, and sponsored by the NYX Gaming Group, the Global Gaming Awards ceremony brought together representatives from across the industry, including land based and online casinos, affiliates, auditors, games developers, and regulatory bodies. Billed as the world's biggest casino industry awards event, there were 12 categories, including ones for the best land based and online operators, best customer loyalty programme, a responsible business award, and a special award for Executive of the Year.

The Digital Gaming Innovation category was contested by companies such as Coral, Williams Interactive, Yggdrasil, and Income Access, with each nomination studied by a panel of 50 judges. These included such figures as Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, Eric Tom, Executive Vice-President of Global Sales at IGT, Fintan Costello, the Senior Industry Head of Finance and EGaming at Google, and Ed Ware, the CEO of 32Red.

Net Entertainment (NetEnt) were selected based on their performance over the previous 12 months, a period of growth for the company that has seen a host of new releases, like Blood Suckers, Aliens and Jack and the Beanstalk, all with innovative features and exciting gameplay.
