The recent changes to the online gambling laws in New Jersey have attracted many new players to casinos and Poker sites that focus on the local market. One problem that they faced however, was that credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard were not always accepted, but residents of the state now have another deposit option open to them.

Seven years after a previous change in US laws forced them to cease operations in the country, Neteller has returned. Before they left up to 80% of all online gambling transactions worldwide were being processed by Neteller, and commenting on their return, analyst Ivor Jones of Numis Securities has said it's "another way to benefit from the growth of online gambling in the US where it is already a payment processor to several key operators."

The Impact of Neteller

With credit card rejection rates of around 50% for MasterCard, and 35% for Visa, the return of Neteller will inevitably make it easier for locals to pay money into an online wagering site. This could help to boost player numbers in this new market, especially at sites like Caesars Casino, 888 Poker and WSOP that allow players to deposit from $10 to $5,000 using Neteller.

At present, it is only possible to pay funds in using Neteller at New Jersey sites, but not withdraw. This must still be done using methods like bank draft or AHC.

How Neteller Works

Neteller acts as a middleman between banks and casinos. Players open a Neteller account and fund it using bank transfers or credit/debit cards. The balance can then be transferred to an online gambling site, with payments usually credited to the account instantaneously.
