Nevada Shoshone Tribe to Launch E-Gaming Casino

Chief William Bills of the Shoshone Nation of Nevada and Gerry Gionet founder of GEObet Network have signed a further extension to the exploratory deal announced on February 20th. The new deal will bring the Shoshone Tribe Online Casino fully into online gaming worldwide, hopefully by May 1 st , though it will currently exclude players from the U.S. and Canada, until it's legalized.

Native American Tribes and Casinos

New casinos have been opening up regularly on Native American tribal lands since 1987 when the U.S. legalized gambling in tribal jurisdictions. Currently 240 tribes operate more than 250 casinos and about 200 other gaming establishments; Indian Gambling has grown into a $27 billion industry.

Interestingly, the Shoshone Tribe is actually not licensed to operate a brick-and-mortar casino and therefore anything they establish will remain strictly digital.

Shoshone and Real Money Play

Many tribes have established free play sites with the hope of eventual conversion to real money play, but the Shoshone Nation has decided that a proper play for money on-line casino is a better entry point for them at this time. They see themselves as setting a precedent for tribes and tribal casinos to get into e-commerce business.
