New legislation is allowing for casinos in many other states and you can now find land based casinos all over the US.
Native Americans are entitled to special laws under agreement with the United States Government that allow them to operate land based gambling venues. This has opened up away for many new land based venues that have been built and operational all across the North American continent from California to New York as well as Canada. An agreement set up between the Cayuga Nation and the State of New York protects land title claims dating back as far as 1700, allowing the partners to enter into a class III gaming contract, and thus enabling the construction of land based casinos.
Robert Berman, and executive at Empire Resorts, welcomed the agreement stating: These historic events have provided Empire with the unique opportunity to partner with these tribes to develop two Native American casinos just 90 miles from New York City.
The legal agreement allows for the operation of slot machines but not video lottery gaming devices such as video slots and video poker games. The Cayuga Nation and other approved Indian tribes receive exclusive rights to much of the New York state area under this contract in return for 25 per cent of the net revenue which go to the state of New York.
To find a great land based casino you no longer have to get on a plane, book a hotel and go to Las Vegas. Many states in the US now feature some great gambling spots. Of course for the fasted, most convenient option you can always check out an online casino. Empire Resorts projects that both New York land based casinos will be open by the end of 2006.
