RebelBetting uses arbitrage algorithms to identify betting opportunities.
Is using technology to win bets fair? Well, like it or not, technology exists to help online gamblers beat the odds and win more often. Specifically designed software programs indeed contain research providing bettors with advantages by predicting outcomes of games bet on.
RebelBetting Model
One of the most well-known programs is RebelBetting, the brand which has come to exemplify the advantages, disadvantages and perceptions of online technology programs. As an ad hoc odds review sheet, RebelBetting uses algorithms to retrieved and compile an entire range of prices of online bookmaker odds for the same sporting events.
Co-founder and RebelBetting CEO Simon Renström is a former computer programmer who charges €129 a month to use his software, which provides bettors with advantage by compiling cumulative combinations of odds for football, rugby and tennis matches, providing a window in which users can place two matching bets on the best odds combinations available to yield profit.
No Overhead, Huge Revenues
RebelBetting is based in Sweden, employing only four people but bringing in revenues of SKr6.7m last year. As far as profits are concern, Renström states that “...a normal player can make 10 to 12 per cent per month,” but “the greater bankroll you have the better up to a threshold of around €35,000, after which it gets increasingly difficult to distribute the money.”
While bookmakers are understandably vexed for proprietary reasons, the public has another reason to be protected: there are many “get rich quick scams” that prey on novice gamblers by promising or guaranteeing profits but are false or imperfect programs.
How It Works
RebelBetting is based on an arbitrage program which would calculate odds for stock performance, but has integrated betting odds to identify profitable opportunities to bet, based on minimizing the bettor's risk (odds) and maximizing his profits (payouts). Renstrom attributes the success of his program to user-friendliness and ease of features, the highlight being customized pop-up alerts signaling the availability of arbitrage bets, or windows.
